Kipinä nimeltä Innocent Victims kirkastui syksyllä 2007, kun monille suomalaisille Heep-faneille tutun cover-bändi 'Eavier Than 'Umblen muutamat ex-jäsenet huomasivat edelleen olevansa parantumattomasti Uriah Heep -käärmeen puraisemia. Näillä vastustuskyvyttömillä, miltei viattomilla "uhreilla" ei ollut muuta vaihtoehtoa kuin jatkaa hyvään alkuun päässyttä yhteistä heepparointiaan ja täydentää kokoonpanoa muutamalla lisäuhrilla.
Bändin ideana on alusta saakka ollut keskittyminen ainoastaan Uriah Heepin sekä sen entisten jäsenten luomaan musiikkiin. IV:n tavaramerkkejä ovat autenttiset livesoundit, kaksi vokalistia sekä rakkaus Heepin musiikillisesti kunnianhimoisimpiin, mutta kenties hieman vähemmän tunnetuiksi jääneisiin helmiin. Uriah Heepin uskomattoman avara musiikkimaailma on paljon muutakin kuin loistavat Lady In Black tai Easy Livin'.
Vuoteen 2008 tultaessa Innocent Victimsin treenikämppä siirtyi Helsingin Malmin teollisuusalueelta Eiraan ja samalla kokoonpano vakiintui nykyiselleen. Keikkailu pääsi vauhtiin keväällä ja tahti kiihtyi syksyllä, jolloin IV esiintyi mm. Helsingin On The Rocks -klubilla. Videoklipin kyseiseltä keikalta voit tsekata yhtyeen MySpace -sivulta.
Kevät 2009 on tuonut Innocent Victimseille paitsi studioaikaa, myös esiintymiskiinnityksiä mm. ravintolalaivalle ja yhtyeen kovasti odottamaan Easy Livin' in Salo -tapahtumaan. Sinne bändi valmistelee kaksi erilaista settiä. Tätä kirjoitettaessa (huhtikuu 2009) Victimsit ovat juuri palanneet loistavasti sujuneelta ensimmäiseltä studioreissultaan Siuntiosta. Kappaleita Tales, Beautiful Dream ja Bird of Prey miksataan parhaillaan julkaisukuntoon ja ne ovat pikimmiten kuultavissa Innocent Victimsin MySpace -sivuilla. Power spark that now carries the name INNOCENT VICTIMS first flashed one day in the Autumn of 2007, when couple of dreamers and ex-members of ‘Eavier Than ‘Umble – a cover band well known to many Finnish Uriah Heep fans – woke up and noticed that they had no choices but to keep on tryin’ and return to their fantasy. They were not suicidal men (nor women), but both unwilling and incapable of finding a cure for what could be called a snake bite by one of rock’s most powerful outfits: Uriah Heep. These almost innocent, real turned on “victims” of music wanted to carry on heepin’.
The name of the game and inspiration of Innocent Victims has remained the very same from the very beginning: only to play and enjoy the music of Uriah Heep and its former members. Authentic live sounds, two lead vocalists (a lady at least sometimes in black and a rainbow demon – listen to their demos and try to guess which wiz is which) and love for the perhaps not so well known but all the more ambitious Heep gems are the trademarks of this band. “There is so much more than the fabulous easy livin’ to all this, there are so many dreams, a true wonderworld to the music of Uriah Heep”, they say.
By the beginning of 2008 Innocent Victims had moved their rehearsal premises and stuff from a Northern Helsinki industrial estate to Eira, Helsinki’s poshest neighborhood, and completed their lineup. By Spring the band had started gigging and by Autumn they were already flyin’ high and playing On The Rocks, one of Helsinki’s best known rock clubs, carrying the same name as the last album by Heep’s legendary original lead vocalist David Byron. The spring of 2009 has brought Innocent Victims more gigs and their first studio experience. The band has just returned from Siuntio where they cut three tracks: Tales, Beautiful Dream and Bird of Prey. The tracks are currently being mixed and will be published in April – check them out at Innocent Victims’s MySpace. “We are eager to please and thus simply proud to be part of Easy Livin’ in Salo. We’ll bring two completely different sets, so make sure you’ll be able to check out them both – we’ll promise to do our best to take you floating to a sea of morning dew – twice. You just can’t keep a good band down."
